Improving Educational Outcomes

Primary schools:

 

We ensure that the school has:

  • a water source

  • a school garden and/or a community garden managed by the parents

  • separate bathrooms for boys and girls

  • teacher professional training

  • a school feeding program run by the parents

  • girls' and boys' mentoring

  • summer camps

  • prevention and response to school-related gender-based violence activities

  • access to needed childhood vaccinations and de-worming

 

We support students’ academic success by:

  • conducting individualized educational assessments to determine students’ learning needs and styles

  • facilitating the provision of inclusive education for all students, including students with disabilities

  • ensuring students finish primary school and have a clear plan for transitioning to secondary school.

Secondary schools:

 

We arrange transportation or lodging for students to attend secondary school, and scholarships for high performing students.

 

We offer secondary students three options:

  • Scholarships on a merit basis to pursue university

  • Scholarships to vocational training programs

  • ​Internships or work placement in companies

  • Entrepreneurial training to start businesses

 

We ask secondary school students to volunteer to return to their primary school to provide mentoring to younger students.

Advancing Economic Power

We support women and youth entrepreneurs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through collaboration with local, national and governments partners by:

  • Training entrepreneurs on business start up

  • Expansion of entrepreneurs’ business plans

  • Advanced training in AI tools, digital marketing, and e-commerce that is region-specific

  • Hands-on coaching from trusted national and international business leaders

  • Development of regional peer-to-peer support networks

  • Classes on wellness, leadership confidence, gender equality, and resilience

  • Access to child and elder care and/or discounted credits for future use

  • Access to an Impact Fund for program graduates

 

We facilitate access to vocational programs that can help youth gain important skills.

  

We support the organizing and maintenance of small and medium sized community savings and loan groups.

​We support performance contracts with women's and youth cooperatives.

Improving Access to Quality Health Services

We work closely with the health facility(ies) in the community to ensure they medications necessary for major childhood and adult illnesses.

 

We ensure women and adolescent girls have access to reproductive, maternal and child health, and mental health services.

 

We offer bio-medical, behavioral and structural interventions for HIV and STI prevention, care and treatment, such as:

  • Pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV, voluntary medical male circumcision, and anti-retroviral therapy

  • Comprehensive education related to safe sexual practices and reduction of risky behaviors (as appropriate to the context and community); and peer education programs

  • Community engagement to provide supportive environment for HIV prevention, including stigma, and discrimination

Fondamental
Activités

  • Nous menons une analyse complète de l'égalité des sexes et de l'inclusion sociale pour mieux comprendre la dynamique sociale et d'inclusion

  • Nous engageons les membres de la communauté à réduire la stigmatisation liée au handicap et essayons de garantir que tous les enfants et adultes handicapés aient accès à l’éducation, aux opportunités économiques et aux soins de santé.

  • Nous facilitons une version adaptée du programme SASA pour prévenir et répondre à la violence basée sur le genre dans la communauté

  • Nous mettons en œuvre des mesures robustes de suivi, d'évaluation et d'apprentissage

  • Nous avons des politiques et des processus solides pour protéger les participants au programme contre l’exploitation et les abus de la part du personnel de Women Rising International ou de nos partenaires.
